This feature length French animation is based on the novel L'Orphelin de Perdide (1958) by the French writer Stefan Wul. It follows the story of Piel the son of Claude who is the last remaining survivor of an attack by the ferocious giant hornets that populate the planet of Perdide. Before his death Claude manages to contact an old friend of his Jaffar, with the coordinates of where he has told Piel to hide.

Jaffar makes his way over to the planet with the aid of the gravitational field of the Blue Comet. As he is several planetary systems away from Perdide he keeps in contact with Piel via a interstellar transceiver. This is before the spacecraft is sucked into a paradox where the identity of the boy becomes a topic for debate.

The visual design was based on the art of Moebius, otherwise known as Jean Giraud. He is a French comic book artist who was born in 1938 in the suburbs of Paris and whose works include 'The Silver Surfer: Parable' which won the Eisner Award for best finite/limited series in 1989. His most recent works was 'Halo: Graphic Novel', which is an attempt to take the success of this computer game into another arena. Both of these graphic novels are published by Marvel Comics.

Les Maitres Du Temps  - The Time Masters won the award for 'Best Children's Film' at the FantaFestival, in the year of its release.

(3mins - 2005)

Starring:

David House (How to Disappear Completely, An American Nobody in London)

Mat Betteridge (Bird in the Bush)

Sarah Harvey-Smart (who appeared in a recent Amy Winehouse video)

It is always the people that you trust the most that let you down and this is something that Lee (David House) is about to find out in abundance. He has just had a blazing row with his girlfriend (Sarah Harvey-Smart) and regrettably seeks solace at the flat of his best friend Jon (Mat Betteridge).

The script was written by Steve Piper who found that the short film scripts that he was usually sent were not very practical to shoot. He shot 3 in two days.
